If you are considering taking a walk to work, there are some things you want to consider before your trip. Preparations must be made prior to going on your walk to ensure you are safe and comfortable.

There are multiple safety considerations to take into account when you walk to work. It's important to make sure that a trusted friend or family member is aware of when you will be walking and the route you are taking. You may even choose to share your location on your phone. When planning your route, try and avoid extremely secluded areas especially if you will be walking late at night. Click here for more information from York Region.

The next most important thing to safety is comfort. You can ensure your comfort by dressing appropriately. This means bringing water, wearing gloves, a hat and hand warmers if cold out, and wearing comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing such as jackets or shorts.

It is also important to have a navigation system for your journey. This can be done through the SmartCommute.ca app which can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
