Celebrate Smart Commute Month This September!

Smart Commute Month returns this September, and it’s your chance to think differently about how you travel. Whether you walk, bike, take transit, carpool, or work from home - we want to hear from you!

This annual campaign is about sustainable ways to get around and invites you to share your commuting habits through a short survey. Your feedback helps improve transportation options in your community - and gives you the chance to WIN one of five $100 Shop Local gift cards!

How to Participate:

• Take the Smart Commute Month survey between September 1 and 30, 2026
• Tell us how you travel and how your habits may have changed
• Provide your name and contact information and you’ll be automatically entered into the prize draw!
• Log a round-trip for an additional ballot! (View our "How to Guide" to get started.)

Prizes:

• $100 - Township of Huron-Kinloss - Huron-Kinloss Dollars
• $100 - Municipality of Brockton - Brockton Dollars

As part of Smart Commute Month, we’re offering a series of engaging webinars on topics that matter to your commute and your community. Plus, for each webinar you attend, you’ll be entered into a draw to win a $50 gift card (registration required)!

1. Safe Travels - Thursday, September 10, 12 p.m. to 1 p.m
   Join us on a journey of “Safe Travels” safe and sustainable travel, focusing on strategies to promote safe walking and cycling to and from school while encouraging sustainable transportation for everyday commutes. The session covered road safety awareness, active transportation initiatives, and practical approaches to creating safer, healthier, and more environmentally sustainable travel habits for students, employees, and communities.

2. Share Your Ride: Real Stories, Real Savings - Thursday, September 24, 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.
   Curious about carpooling but not sure how to make it work for your schedule? Join commuters, employers, and Smart Commute representatives to learn how sharing your ride can save money, reduce commute stress, and make your daily trip to work more enjoyable.
