Working from home every day can get dull, especially if you are the type of person who enjoys getting out and interacting with others every day. Luckily for you, a benefit of working from home is that you have full reign over your work environment and much more control over your routine than you would if you had to commute to the office. Therefore, there are many things you can do to bring new excitement into your life in the home office.

If you can choose what tasks you work on and when you work on them, we recommend you try the 45:15 method. What this involves is working on a difficult task for 45 minutes, then spending the next 15 minutes on a simple task you enjoy. This will allow you to focus for longer periods of time without losing your focus or drive.

Make sure your home office has nice windows and keep them open! Exposing your body to natural light will help you maintain focus, produce more vitamin D, make you feel happier, and it will improve your sleep patterns. In addition to this, when you have plenty of natural light you will be less inclined to turn on your house lights. This will help save the environment and it will save you money.

Although it is just a small change, having indoor plants can significantly change your work environment! When you care for a plant you have a symbiotic relationship, this is something we don't experience often. This plant will improve the air quality of your workspace, aid in stress reduction, improve your feeling of well-being, increase your environmental wellness and it will support your cognitive health. We recommend rewarding yourself with a new plant every few months.

As you are working from home, chances are you not getting many steps in. We recommend you find some form of physical activity you enjoy and stick to it. It's even better if this activity involves you getting out of the house. Remaining active not only will provide you with a hobby outside of work, but also will increase your productivity at work. Since you do not have a work commute to worry about, you have extra time in the day to dedicate to physical activity!
