Wincy is, Manager of Smart Commute Markham, Richmond Hill, responsible for overseeing the execution of
multiple custom projects funded by Metrolinx and the Regional Municipality of York, the delivering of custom
sustainable transportation program and effective marketing activities which aims to reduce single occupant
vehicle trips and influence commute behavior change. Wincy’s 12 years of customer engagement, strategic
planning, project management and program development in SCMRH have prepared her for her current role. Prior
to joining SCMRH, Wincy worked at the Markham Board of Trade and was responsible for website management and
customer relations. Wincy has worked on public relations for a wide range of large private corporations,
public and non-for-profit sectors. Wincy is a member at the City of Markham’s Cycling & Pedestrian Advisory
committee, an advisory role on delivery of cycling and pedestrian programs and facilities to promote and
enhance cycling and walking in Markham. Wincy holds a B.A, in Philosophy at York University and number of
Certifications in Marketing, Business Communications and Project Management through Seneca College and
Fundamentals of Supervision and Management from University of Waterloo.
Sonya De Vellis is Smart Commute Markham, Richmond Hill’s Program and Project Specialist. Since joining SCMRH
in July 2015, Sonya has used her communications, interpersonal and management skills to create website and
social media content, build relationships with workplace ambassadors, and lead projects that aim to reduce
single-occupant vehicle travel within Markham and Richmond Hill. Sonya has a Bachelors degree in
Environmental Studies from the University of Toronto and a Master of Arts degree in Planning from the
University of Waterloo. She has worked on research projects, outreach initiatives and event management in
the fields of environmental conservation, sustainable energy, solid waste diversion and active
transportation. Sonya has always been interested in the complexities of urban environments, and enjoys
experiencing new and familiar areas by bike, or on foot!
Calvin holds a Bachelor of Environmental Studies, Honours Planning – Urban Design Specialization degree from
the University of Waterloo. He is a proud team member of Smart Commute Markham, Richmond Hill and has been
an avid carpooler since May 2016. As the Program Specialist, Calvin is responsible for delivering program
services to Smart Commute workplaces such as the workplace travel survey, Smart Commute Online Tool, Carpool
Parking Pass Program and Emergency Ride Home. With his data analysis, researching and interpersonal skills,
Calvin has led projects aiming to increase transit usage in the workplace and developing project reports
detailing recommendations and next steps. He enjoys building relationships with workplace ambassadors,
helping them to create a successful Smart Commute Workplace Program and reach their workplace sustainability
