Official Contest Rules and Regulations for Smart Commute Month 2023 (Greater City of Sudbury)

Eligibility

External promotions are open to all residents of the Greater City of Sudbury, age 16 years and older, with the exception of elected officials and employees of the Greater City of Sudbury, and any of the sponsoring companies or affiliated companies. This includes their immediate families, cohabitants, agents or contractors. The Greater City of Sudbury reserves the right to require proof of identity and/or eligibility, in a form satisfactory to it, to verify the eligibility of an entrant. Failure to provide proof of eligibility to the satisfaction of the Greater City of Sudbury may result in the disqualification of the entrant, at the sole discretion of the Greater City of Sudbury. The contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law. The Greater City of Sudbury reserves the right to cancel or suspend the contest or modify these rules at its discretion. Decisions of the Greater City of Sudbury will be final and binding on all entrants without right of appeal. No purchase is necessary. The social media promotion, contest, giveaway or sweepstake shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the laws of Canada applicable therein. By entering and/or accepting a prize, the entrants agree to irrevocably attorn to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Province of Ontario.

Contest details

  • To be entered into the contest, entrants must complete the “Smart Commute: Greater Sudbury Transportation Survey” which can be found  here.
  • The contest begins at 9:00 a.m. EST on September 15, 2023 and ends at 11:59 p.m. EST on October 13, 2023.
  • No purchase is required.
  • There is a total of eleven (11) prizes to be won.
  • One grand prize of a $75 gift card to New Sudbury Shopping Centre
  • Additional prizes are one of ten $20 gift cards to one of the following businesses:
    • New Sudbury Shopping Centre
    • Starbucks or Tim Hortons
    • SilverCity Sudbury Cinemas
    • Ultimate Dining Card
  • One entry per person.
  • Only one prize may be awarded per entrant.

Entries

No purchase necessary. One entry per person. Use of any automated system to submit entries is prohibited and will result in disqualification.

The the Greater City of Sudbury holds the right to disqualify entries with inappropriate content.

Judging and Publication

All entries must be submitted to the Greater City of Sudbury by 11:59 p.m. EST on October 13, 2023 in order to be eligible for participation. Winner(s) will be announced by 5:00 p.m. EST on October 16, 2023. Following the deadline, the winner(s) will be notified by email. Prizes must be claimed by 5:00 p.m. EST November 30, 2023.

The winner(s) will be selected based on random draw from all eligible entries received before the deadline. Winner(s’) names and/or photographs may be published across the Greater City of Sudbury's and reThink Green’s social media channels and other marketing publications.

The odds of winning are dependent on the number of eligible entries received. Following the deadline, the selected entrant(s) will be notified by email. Selected entrant(s) must correctly answer a mathematical skill-testing question to become an official winner and claim the prize.

If a selected entrant(s): (i) cannot be contacted within five (5) business days,(ii) fails to correctly answer the skill-testing question, (iii) fails to provide proof of eligibility satisfactory to the Greater City of Sudbury, upon request and in the sole discretion of the Greater City of Sudbury, and/or (iv) fails to claim the prize by the deadline noted above, the selected entrant(s) will be disqualified and forfeit the prize. The Greater City of Sudbury reserves the right to select an alternate entrant from the remaining eligible entries. The prizes must be accepted “as is” and the Greater City of Sudbury reserves the right to substitute the prize.

Responsibility

The Greater City of Sudbury, all of its successor corporations and entities and their respective past, present and future elected and appointed officials, officers, representatives, employees, servants, agents, and their respective successors, assigns, heirs and administrators shall not be held responsible for any injuries, loss or damages of any kind, direct or indirect, with respect to or arising in any way from the contest, including but not limited to (i) entries that are lost, damaged, or delayed during transportation, (ii) any failure of the social media platform during this contest, and (iii) any problems or technical malfunctions of computer online systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, software or any email, online or internet entry lost due to technical problems or traffic congestion on the internet or social media platform or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to an entrant’s or any other person’s computer or property related to or resulting from playing or downloading any material in the promotion.

By entering the contest, each entrant consents to the Greater City of Sudbury collecting, using and disclosing the personal information submitted with the entry for the purposes of administering the contest and notifying selected entrant(s) and winner(s) in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. M.56, as amended.
